Acoustic playing of any instrument and singing (accompanied or otherwise) of any style. Beginners welcome to have a go in a friendly atmosphere. We just sit in the bar and do our own thing with Les Eastham leading and encouraging. A number of people come to sit and listen. This is a free event. Normal prices at the bar which readily serves tea and coffee.

The Grand Union Folk Club hold regular Singarounds, Guest Nights or Music Sessions on Mondays in the bar at the Soar Bridge Inn, Barrow upon Soar, LE12 8PN, nr. Loughborough.
Singarounds (normally on the second Monday of each month) and Guest Nights start at 8.30pm
The music sessions start at 9.00pm and are fronted by Martin Wildig and Phil Preen (subject to commitments of the Bang on the Wall Ceilidh Band). Dates for Music sessions in the second half of  2010 are 28 June, 19 July, 27 September, 18 October and 15 November.
Music workshops, based mostly on English tunes, run from 7.30 to 9.00pm in the back room of the pub on the same evenings as the music sessions. The workshops are open to anybody who has mastered the the rudiments of their instrument.

Beginner Strings   6.00 - 7.00pm at Hazel Street Community Centre, Leicester, LE2 7JN;
this is a new weekly adult class where you can try out stringed instruments (violin, viola, cello), learn simple tunes and explore learning by ear and music reading.

Leicester Fiddle Group   7.15 - 8.15pm at Hazel Street Community Centre, Leicester, LE2 7JN;
this is a new weekly adult class where fiddle players of all kinds (big fiddles too!) can learn traditional tunes by ear or off the dots and arrange them as a group; we also have a number of violins you can borrow for free!
